Glucose intolerance

There are symptoms that have been recognized to be those being pre-diabetic in nature.  Dysglycemia, which is a state in which blood sugar metabolic functioning is poor, can yield some pre diabetic incidences as a prelude to type 2 diabetes by several years.  One of these is the condition known as IGT or Impaired Glucose Tolerance and is related to the symptom in which the body resists insulin.  This in turn can accelerate the possibility of suffering from cardiovascular pathology and generate a possibility of early mortality.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are two organizations that have defined the criteria of impaired glucose tolerance.  It is the condition in which a person’s glucose level has increased moderately within two hours, however this would still not identify them as being under a type 2 diabetes mellitus.  The person’s glucose levels as identified through the utilization of the 75-g oral glucose tolerance test, would reveal every two hours the level of 140 to 199 mg per dL (7.8 to 11 mmol).  The glucose relative to fasting will be revealed to be either at a moderately increased or normal level.  This condition affects approximately 10 to 15 percent of American adults.

So, as discussed above, there are tests which can determine the blood glucose level of any person and as well provide those tell tale signs that would indicate the likelihood of type two diabetes.  Through consultations with personal physicians or experts well versed in the fields of diabetes, a person can learn to apply and identify those glucose levels tests within their own bodies.  Through the ability to learn and self apply these tests, a person will not only moderate their protein intake but record vital records that, when supplied to their physicians can aid and assist in determining where the body is going, and how to possibly treat it.  The importance of monitoring and regulating blood glucose levels and steady interaction with personal physicians can help to identify those with Impaired Glucose Tolerance and reduce the possibility of the identified adverse side effects as identified above.
