What to do if You Suffer from Bran Allergy

For a healthy life, a proper and balanced diet full of nutrition is recommended for every one of us. A diet rich in protein, vitamins, fibres, minerals, calcium should be preferred. There are varieties of such fruits, vegetables and other substitutes that are healthy for the body. One among them is wheat bran which is good for digestive system.
When wheat is fully grown, it is thrashed to separate grains from it. After it has been separated the outer layer of wheat is left out which is called bran. These outer layers are edible and are even good for health.

There are many foods that are made up wheat bran, although these are good for health. But some people may suffer from bran allergy because of the gluten found in it. When any product containing wheat bran is consumed and there occurs some reaction and the body’s immune doesn’t support it bran allergy is caused.

One can notice the symptoms after consuming the food containing wheat bran. The symptoms of bran allergy can be noticed within several minutes of consumption or after two hours, it totally depends upon the immunity of the person consuming it. There are several symptoms of bran allergy. Whenever you notice any of these symptoms, it is recommended to visit a doctor urgently before it causes a major harm.

  • Irritation of the mouth or watery eyes
  • nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Nasal congestion
  • Rapid heartbeat or dizziness
  • Severe breathing problem
  • Digestive problem

Treatment
To avoid the allergy caused from wheat bran, the first and foremost is to avoid any food that contains wheat bran. There are many food items that contain bran so do check the ingredients before buying. Other than wheat any food that contains gluten, albumin, globulin or gliadin should be avoided.

There are many sorts of bran and some are also derived from rice, oat, corn or barley. If you find there is no mention of any grain then be sure that it is wheat bran only. Anyone allergic to wheat bran might be allergic to other bran too. Always look for substitute that is equivalently nutritious as wheat bran. Always be cautious of what you are eating because slight avoidance can get you into problem. Be cautious before eating.
